WHOLE-HOUSE REMODEL -- ONLY OPEN JUNE 19-20 -- After a minor fire damaged this two-bedroom duplex, the City of Iowa City purchased it for remodel and sale through its South District Neighborhood Partnership program. Local students from City High and Liberty High completed the renovation. Their work included drywall, interior painting, window replacement, kitchen cabinets, trim and siding installation, and a new deck and storage shed. Through their work, the students learned the fundamentals of home remodeling. Notable energy efficiency improvements: new spray foam insulation, low flow aerators, low flow showerheads, a heat pump water heater, LED bulbs, and new Gerkin Energy Star windows.
• LP composite siding with Diamond Kote finish • Gerkin windows • LVP floors • Granite countertops • New interior trim and cabinets • Remodeled bathroom
Sueppel's was very excited to help manage the first ever ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Student Remodel. They are proud of the work the students completed and look forward to future projects that will help train the next generation of remodelers. A special thanks to the instructors, John Reynolds of City High and Micah Casper of Liberty High, for working through a multitude of challenges and inspiring the kids, this project would not have happened without them. Finally, thanks to everyone with the City of Iowa City, Kirkwood Community College, Iowa City Community School District, Vocational Training Council, and the Greater Iowa City Home Builders Association who helped make this a success.
